Strawberry Island

Recommended type of dive: Boat and Kayak

How to dive this site: Strawberry Island has all the wonderful sea life of Deception Pass Narrows, but is more forgiving. Launch from Cornet Bay boat ramp and paddle north to Stawberry Island. The best site is on the north side of the island which is protected somewhat from an ebb current. Dive here on high slack as high tide yields better visibility. The rocky ledges of the island drop right off.

Directions to the site: From Oak Harbor - Head north to New Cornet Bay Road, opposite the entrance of Deception Pass State Park. Turn right onto New Cornet Bay Road and follow it to Cornet Bay public boat launch. Launch here and head .5 miles north.

From the north - Follow Deception Pass Bridge from Fidalgo Island. Once on Whidbey Island take a left onto New Cornet Bay Road. This will be the first intersection you come to. Follow New Cornet Bay Road into the Cornet Bay Marina. Launch from the public boat launch to the east of the park service building. Head north .5 miles to Strawberry Island
