Coffin Rocks
Recommended type of dive: Boat and Kayak
How to dive this site: Before entering the water at this site, check the direction of the current. You can do so by watching the way your boat or kayak drifts and by looking at the kelp on the surface. It is best that you dive here at slack, but diving from a live boat is possible. The reef is not visible from the surface except for the kelp, which marks the surface. In the summer months the kelp grows quickly and the kelp bed here will be much thicker. Anchor your vessel and explore the cracks and crevices that lie sporadically around a bottom of 15 - 50'. Many kelp, greenling, cabezon, rockfish and lingcod can be found here.
Directions to the site: GPS Coordinates: N. 48 24.780 W 122 39.714.

As a boat dive - Launch from Deception Pass Marina on Whidbey Island or other appropriate place and head towards the southwest corner of Fidalgo Island.
